If you ever leave, your memories should leave with you.

OpenTrove is built on trust.

That means you should always understand what happens when you delete your account, what is removed, and what choices you have before anything becomes permanent.

Deleting your account is a serious action, so we handle it carefully.

How to request deletion

You can request account deletion from within OpenTrove, or by contacting us directly.

Email: support@joinopentrove.com

We may need to verify your identity before processing the request. This helps protect your account from being deleted by someone else.

Protection period

After you request deletion, your account may enter a short protection period.

During this time, your account is scheduled for deletion but has not yet been permanently removed.

This gives you time to change your mind if the request was made accidentally.

What happens after deletion

Once deletion is completed, we will permanently remove your account and personal information according to our deletion process.

This may include:

  • your profile information
  • your email address
  • your verified mobile number
  • your profile picture
  • your personal account settings
  • your access to Troves and Stories
  • content you personally uploaded, where OpenTrove’s sharing model and the rights of other contributors allow it

After deletion is complete, your account cannot be restored.

What may remain

Some information may remain in limited circumstances.

For example:

  • content you shared in a Trove may remain if other Trove members still have rights to access or preserve it
  • limited records may be kept where required for legal, security, fraud prevention, or operational reasons
  • backups may take additional time to expire from our systems

Where information remains, we limit it to what is necessary.

Leaving a Trove instead

If you do not want to delete your entire account, you may be able to leave a Trove instead.

Leaving a Trove removes your access to that Trove, but does not delete your OpenTrove account.

Need help?
